The articles a and an are always used to refer to singular nouns.
- a: starts with a consonant.
Examples: 1. I have a dog.
2. There is a chair.
- an: starts with a vowel or vowel sound.
Examples: 1. My friend bought an alligator.
2. She doesn't have an umbrella.
- the: It's used for specific, singular and plural nouns.
Examples: 1. The Earth is big.
2. The president of USA.
